The idea of such work often has little to do with the reality. It sounds quite nice to do a bit of hiking and take photos at the same time. Unfortunately, it's not that simple. The first thing we did beforehand was to look for volunteers who would like to do such a shoot and take a day to do it. Once we had found some motivated kids, we had to clarify the following questions: how would we organise the journey, what equipment would we need, who would take care of the parents' consent and how would we carry out the shoot?
Once all the organisational points were taken care of, we ended up travelling with three cars, three rucksacks with equipment, six children, a toddler with a pushchair and a mum. We had a really hot day ahead of us, so we planned the timings for the different locations in advance to give the children enough breaks and shady spots.
For a total of 9 hours, we acted as chauffeurs, companions, photographers, mums and models all at the same time. As if that wasn't challenge enough, we had to carry, pack, unpack and swap equipment in 35 degree temperatures. It goes without saying that we were also delighted when we finally reached the lake Laudachsee.
When the kids were still bursting with energy at 6 pm, we had to admit to ourselves that these days were probably over for us. Tired, exhausted but satisfied, we finally set off home knowing that this would not be the last shoot.
