On the treetop walk Salzkammergut you can experience unique perspectives high above the forest floor with breathtaking panoramic views of Gmunden and the Traunsee region.
Learning and experience stations
At the learning stations, you can feel, read and guess the secrets of the surroundings. The treetop walk is an outdoor classroom - the motto here is: fascination instead of silence! Topics on the curriculum:
Tree species of the mixed mountain forest
Bird and rock species around Lake Traunsee
History of the horse-drawn railway
Surroundings of Gmunden
The adventure stations are equipped with climbing and balancing elements that challenge your sense of balance and courage. They provide the right fun factor for every family outing and turn nature into an unforgettable experience.
Observation tower and tunnel slide
At the end of the treetop walk, the impressive 39 metre high observation tower awaits you. Like the entire trail, the tower is made predominantly of wood and was built using environmentally friendly construction methods. Its shape is reminiscent of a giant salt barrel and thus honours the history and culture of the region.
The ascent via the wheelchair and pushchair-accessible ramp inside the tower offers you fascinating new views of the different levels of the forest, Lake Traunsee, the Traunstein and the foothills of the Alps at every turn. Once you reach the top platform, a breathtaking 360-degree panorama awaits you.
For the descent, you have a choice: either take the ramp back down or opt for an adrenaline rush and use the 75 metre long tunnel slide.
