Hiking with children

Are you planning an excursion with the whole family in the beautiful Traunsee region and have the little ones with you? No problem, families with small children are very welcome at the Grünberg in Gmunden!

The Grünberg is THE No. 1 family excursion destination in the Traunsee holiday region in the Salzkammergut.

Families and their children can take the Grünberg cable car up to 1,004 metres without stress and in a relaxed manner, where a whole host of exciting experiences await.

Pushchairs can be taken on the Grünberg mountain railway free of charge! Thanks to the accessibility of the mountain and valley stations, effortless getting in and out with pushchairs is guaranteed.

The first exciting adventures on the Grünberg await little mountain lovers and their families at the mountain station of the Grünberg cable car:

promise fun, games and plenty of action.

After the adventures, it's off on an exploration tour, as there is also a lot to discover when hiking.

On the wonderful hiking trails, parents can take leisurely walks with their children, e.g. to the lake Laudachsee.

Tip

On the road with a pushchair

Take your time and visit the treetop walk Salzkammergut on the Grünberg together with your children.

There is something for everyone here:

  • Learning stations to get to know nature better

  • Comic rally along the trail

  • Adventure stations for the whole family

  • Observation tower with fantastic views of the surrounding mountain and lake region

  • 75 metre long tunnel slide (from 6 years)

Successful hiking trip

Hiking together is fun! This motto can be communicated to the children even before the start and they can go on a discovery tour together along the hiking trail and playfully explore the forest and meadow.

Our tips:

  • Don't let boredom set in: funny hiking songs, exciting stories or little games can help here.

  • A good mood is contagious: if the adults are motivated, the children usually are too.

  • Planning is everything: choose the right hiking route in advance. Don't overtax your children and remember to take regular breaks.

  • It's more fun together: invite another family to go hiking with you.
